Wax Works

Hi there folks, it Josh here. Sorry for the delay in starting up this blog. I have been crazy busy dealing with family issues and working up to vacation. Now I'm traveling in Maine so I am going to post on downtime through the holidays.

While here in Maine, I found a sweet little art store with a huge selection. Artist and Craftsman Supply where I found some nicely priced wax. My wife picked me up 1lb of Microcrystalline wax for $10. So I decided to look up some recipes for toy wax. In looking for my Tim Bruckner's recipes from Pop Sculpture online because I was being lazy to go find my copy. I found that Gary Overman (the master wax maker that has the simple recipe in Pop Sculpture) has gone into retirement and passing on his knowledge in a simple wax maker PDF.

Gary has mastered his craft and passing along the knowledge is great to take advantage of. If you aren't familiar with his work Willow Products has been a go to for wax sculptors for years. Trevor Grove, Tim Bruckner, and Tony Cipriano are a few happy customers of Gary's wax. I have yet to experience it myself but now I can and so can you.

Gary has found it tiresome to be on the grind of making wax these days and now passing that power to the artists themselves. For a small price, $10 given in kindness and compassion. Donate $10 to a charity of your choice and freely download Gary's master cookbook and instructions from the link on his blog here: http://willowproducts.blogspot.com/2016/11/free-download-wax-journal-np-for.html

My donation will go to http://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/ to help a cause I believe in. I have downloaded the PDF  and it's full of great information. Also Willow Products main page has plenty of great information and Gary's Youtube has some tips as well.

Please spread the word and spread the cheer. If you have experience with these waxes please leave comments and tips for working with. Have fun making your own wax and as always happy sculpting.
